The iconic Abbey Hotel situated in Donegal Town is a major hospitality landmark for anyone travelling along the Wild Atlantic Way. Tasked with the contract of creating an exceptional restaurant and dining experience, we wanted to create an interior that would reflect the ethos, language and heritage of west Donegal. The old Abbey and the Castle were very much a part of our thinking process and we tried to bring in natural elements such as stone walling, mahogany timbers, tweed seating fabrics and a delicate balance of bespoke light fittings. Large oil paintings were commissioned from a local artist covering themes such as the 'Scripts of the Four Masters' which is at the heart of this restaurant theme. It was amazing being a part of this stunning successful venture and it really connected the different interiors of the hotel.
