This beautiful landmark building ( built in 1927 ) was formerly the Bank of Ireland, designed in a neo-Georgian style by local Derry architect James Patrick McGrath. Transforming the structure into a four storey hotel came with its own set of challenges and we met them head on. The ground floor now hosts a stunning, elegant contemporary bar and restaurant as well as the hotel reception areas. The aim was to create a relaxed social drinking & dining space with fine detailing such as satin brass divider screens and rich dark oak wall panelling. Running parallel to this was the belief that the exterior heritage should be reflected inside also. The overall result is a mighty dramatic interior, sophisticated yet informal with a warm and cosy ambience. This ambitious project has elevated and rejuvenated the surrounding town areas.
